Separation of Church and State - Truth or lie?

“Give me liberty or give me death!” to “Let’s have paper straws.” What happened? God and His influence was removed from government.

This is about the separation of church and state myth.

Why is it a myth? The actual separation of the institutions of church and state is real; the myth, the secular lie, is that religious influences are to be separated from anything to do with government, even public schools are considered government institutions.

Why would our government want God and religious influence separated from government? The answer is simple, without God being above government it allows government to grow and become a god over the people, controlling them. Along with this government growth comes government corruption. DOGE has uncovered some of this waste, fraud and corruption.

First we’ll see where, and where not, the separation of church and state myth comes from.

Nowhere in the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence or any other founding era document will you find the phrase ‘separation of church and state’.

In fact, the only place it does appear is in a letter President Thomas Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptist Association. In that letter, Jefferson said the Constitution builds a wall of separation between church and state, allaying the Danbury Baptist’s fear that the government would take away their right to free worship of their religion. (Read David Barton’s article in the November 2003 issue of the Notre Dame Law Review for more information)

Jefferson’s letter was used in its entirety as a legal defense of the freedom of religion until 1947, when Supreme Court justice Hugo Black lifted the phrase ‘separation of church and state’ from Jefferson’s letter and twisted it to produce the lie that government should be devoid of religious influences. And after several generations of the government sewing this lie into the public’s psyche, the people believe it so completely that some are even willing to resort to violence to prevent anyone else from spreading the truth about it.

The precedents of numerous Supreme Court cases which use Jefferson’s letter as a successful defense of religious freedom conflict with the lie they want so they only use the court history since 1947, which supports their lie.

Now for the Biblical justification of keeping the state out of religious affairs. I found two references that support the state not becoming involved in religion.

In 2 Chronicles 26:18-21 there is the example of King Uzziah being struck with leprosy by God for attempting to assume a priestly role. This shows us that God doesn't want a civil leader to also lead religion.

In Daniel 4:1-37 we read the story of King Nebuchadnezzar who became a little too arrogant and thought of himself as both king and god, combining church and state.

There are several examples in the Bible of heads of state asking priests for advice on state issues but there isn’t one example of priests asking advice of heads of state. 1 Kings 22:3-6 is but one of those many examples.

Yet we allow our govt. to tell the churches what they can and cannot do all the time. The 2020 COVID scare is a great example. The business about a cake store and a photographer not wanting to do a wedding for a homosexual couple for religious reasons but being forced to by the state is another.

A little aside, European history is full of examples of kings also being the religious head and they are all very oppressive tyrannies.

The history of the Pilgrims in America, on the other hand, shows the proper relationships of church and state. They elected church leaders from among them but also civic leaders, and civic leaders were not also religious leaders but both relied on their religious beliefs to influence their leadership decisions.

There are fifty depictions of the Ten Commandments in the Justice building in Washington. Is that separating church and state? And there are many other references to God sprinkled throughout the architecture of DC, the Jefferson and Lincoln memorials are but two examples.

“Of all the dispositions which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.” - George Washington, Farewell address

“Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” John Adams

There are many other quotes by founders and clergy on this issue.

The oath of office in the Constitution has no penalty associated with it because the oath was to God saying He could punish the oath taker if he/she failed to uphold their oath. 99% of what happens in Congress is done behind closed doors.

The passage in Matthew and Mark where Jesus says, “Render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” is a very weak defense of supporting the separation of church and state. The secularists chose this Bible verse to convince religious people that Jesus did support the separation of church and state (SCS) as the aforementioned secularists wanted to define the SCS. What that passage shows is Jesus’ respect for what God had created (government, Genesis and Exodus). We get the obvious reference that since the coin has a picture of Caesar on it that it should be given to Caesar but what is often misunderstood is that Caesar, in fact everything, belongs to God. [image of very large circle of God with the small circle of Caesar’s realm within it]

God is not to be separated from anything He created.

Finally, here are some more Bible verses that show how much our government has been influenced by the Bible.

Art 1 Sec. 8 Uniform immigration – Leviticus 19:34

Art. 2 Sec. 1 Natural born President – Deuteronomy 17:15

Art. 3 Sec. 3 Bill of Attainder – Ezekiel 18:20

Separation of Powers – Jeremiah 17:9

Three branches of government – Isaiah 33:22

Tax-exemption for Church – Ezra 7:24 , not the IRS

Republicanism – Exodus 18:21

I hope I have shown you that the separation of church and state doctrine that has been taught in every educational institution, from public K-12 schools to seminaries, is a huge secular lie invented to try to rest the Christian influence over government and give it to Satan so corruption could flourish.
