Draining the Swamp

It’s very difficult to explain a swamp to someone who hasn’t actually experienced a swamp in real life. But, here goes.
An actual swamp is difficult to drain and takes years...ask anyone that’s attempted to reclaim a swamp for the purposes of additional farm land or for building. A swamp begins with the soil composition, that has got to be right before the water is added to make what we see as a swamp, the decomposing leaves and things perpetuate the existence of the swamp. This is a very brief explanation of what a swamp is.
I grew up next to swamps, I’ve watched as the neighboring farmers tried to reclaim swampland. I’ve lived in other areas with swamps, I currently live near acres of swamp….I know swamps!
Calling our federal government a swamp is quite accurate. They only allow you to see the surface, and that’s for show. The real happenings go on behind closed doors, in restaurants and bars, even in alleys sometimes. And then there are the agencies, unaccountable to no one, which are created by Congress with the purpose of making Congress’s mission statement a reality. The Congress passes a law for an idea and gives it to an agency. The agency then makes the policy and rules, passes judgment on people violating the rules and then sentences these ‘violators’ in various ways...from fines to jail time.
But back to the government swamp. They resist any change that is good for the country and its people. Their only motivation for change is to increase their power and get more money for themselves. You want examples? OK. The Department of Government Efficiency found much waste, fraud and inefficiency. Most of that has been sidelined for being cut for various visible reasons, but the real reasons are the cuts would limit the power of someone or some group in the swamp or the cut would take away some money from some corrupt politician or their ‘friends’.
Now, back to actually draining a swamp. It is impossible to drain a swamp while you are in the swamp, the muck just sucks you down into it. The only way to drain a swamp is from the outside, making drainage ditches, changing water flows, all done from outside the swamp.
And that is how We the People must drain the government swamp – from the outside.
We must call a Convention of States to propose and have the states ratify amendments to control the federal government, forcing them back into their constrained constitutional box, effectively draining the swamp. A Convention of States is a limited state committee meeting to propose amendments that will control the government, if they are later ratified. This process totally bypasses the federal government.
Go to conventionofstates.com to find out more but also read Article V of the US Constitution for yourself. We must do this for our children, grandchildren and posterity!
